The Wellness Hour: How to Create Your Own

by Linda Andrews

In 2022, I launched The Wellness Hour in partnership with CityPlace in West Palm Beach. Once a month, people gathered with local wellness leaders for a simple yet powerful rhythm: pause, ground, practice, reflect.

Though the live event is no longer running, the heart of The Wellness Hour lives on. You do not need a venue or a large group to feel its impact. You can bring the spirit of The Wellness Hour into your own life, or gather a few friends or colleagues to share the experience.

How to Host Your Own Wellness Hour

1. Set the Intention
Decide what you want this hour to mean. Is it grounding yourself? Connecting with others? Exploring a theme like resilience, clarity, or renewal? Begin with a moment of silence or by journaling your intention.

2. Create the Space
Choose a setting that feels calm and inviting. Your living room, a park, an office lounge, or a backyard can all work. Comfort is more important than perfection.

3. Ground Yourself
Start with something that shifts you into presence. A few deep breaths, a short meditation, or gentle stretching can help you transition out of daily noise and into stillness.

4. Choose a Practice
Each Wellness Hour I hosted at CityPlace looked different. Yours might be journaling, breathwork, mindful movement, or inviting a friend to share a practice. The key is keeping it intentional, not complicated.

5. Integrate with Reflection
Close by reflecting. Journal, share with your group, or take a moment of gratitude. This step helps you carry the experience into daily life.

6. Keep It Consistent
The true transformation comes with rhythm. Whether weekly, monthly, or seasonally, making space for a regular Wellness Hour builds clarity, wellbeing, and connection.

Why This Matters

When I look back on leading The Wellness Hour, the most powerful part was not the specific practices. It was the way people left feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected. That shift is something you can create for yourself and, if you choose, for your own community.

Wellness does not need to be complicated. It starts with one intentional hour.
